Horse Riders improve their skills with helmet cameras

Another interesting story we found when looking through the action camera sales …

As the summer competition season draws nearer more and more riders are turning to helmet mounted cameras to record training at home and away. ActionCameras.co.uk have noticed a 190% increase in sales to riders from this time last year. They believe it’s in the anticipation of good weather for the competition season as more and more people compete on the local and regional circuit.

From the rider’s point of view it enables them to analyse their approach when riding cross-country or show jumping, and record outings as a reference for future competitions to improve on previous outings.

Riders need a camera to be shock resistant, waterproof and lightweight as well as being able to capture quality footage. The VIO POV1 fits the bill for all riders and retails at £549.99 from online retailer ActionCameras.co.uk.

Sab Jhooti of Actioncameras.co.uk said; “The increasing competition for riders leads many to look for any advantage they can get. Our cameras, especially the POV1, enable riders to analyse their riding from the comfort of their own home and clearly see where they can improve.”

The helmet-mounted cameras are easy and safe to wear, and come with a multitude of fittings. They can record up to several hours with sound and connect to PCs and Macs via a USB cable.

Some great footage!

I know, you shouldn’t laugh BUT here on Antony’s blog he’s got some fine footage from his POV1 of a mate taking a fall. Very nice!

Here’s our action camera story on BBC North …

BBC video

They filmed our case study Sue Archer who did brilliant job of exaplaining how the helmet cameras are used. Of course they neglected to mention us here at action cameras - the ones who gave them the story. But if raises awareness of how important it can be to wear helmet cameras then so much the better.

Maybe they could be polite enough to mention us and not simply speak to our case study direct and claim the story as their own but ho-hum …

Helmet camera cyclist story on BBC Radio York

When action cameras noticed that more and more cyclists were buying their helmet cams to record their commutes we thought it was a good story for the media. So we told them about it and they agreed. The story has been covered on London TV, the Evening Standard, the Daily Mail and more. Yesterday the story was on BBC Radio York. It’s a shame a good deal of these organisations don’t mention action cameras by name … after all it’s us who gave them the story. None the less - it’s all good news for cyclists as the message gets out that “motorists we’re watching you!”
