Mike Catt training the London Irish using the X170 Action Camera

Mike Catt, Rugby World Cup Winner and coach of the London Irish premiership team went on a search to find an innovative way to improve his backlines ability to see what he can see. The answer came to him in the form of the X170 Action Camera. Now he can review each play from
the player’s point of view.

“It’s just brilliant” was Catt’s comment when first watching back Chris Malone’s point of view after a quick run around on the pitch. Catt and game analyst Richy Whiffin are going to use the X170 Action Camera in training sessions throughout the season so we’re hoping this can contribute to their continuing success.

Modial du VTT Downhill MTB 2009

Next on the jam packed Action Cameras Event Calendar is the Modial du VTT which kicks off tomorrow in the beautiful location of the French Alps.
It runs through to the end of the weekend and sees a range of Downhill Mountain Bikers tackling the tricky course starting up on the glaciers in the peaks of the Alps and continuing all the way down through treacherous corners and past drop off’s into the abyss. The course eventually winds it’s way down into the stunning location of Les Deux Alps.
This is the event where all the top bike companies come to show off their brand new gear and let you trial it for free which makes for an excellent weekend for everyone involved!
Of course you won’t be able to miss the Action Cameras tent with all the latest gear on show and if you ask nicely you may be able to take one of our cameras out with you when trialling out the next bikes.
We are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces from previous years and also to meeting more of bikers and lovers of extreme sports at the event!

The Isle of Man TT 2009

While there are still four more days of the Isle of Man TT remaining, it is easy to say that Action Cameras has had a fantastic time up at the event! Over the past week we have enjoyed spending time with all of the racers and spectators alike who are all up there to enjoy the racing and to take advantage of the one-way road system up over the mountain where absolutely anyone can take their bike to the limit without having to worry about speed limits.

The Action Cameras stand has been continuously surrounded by bikers who were either entrigued by the action cameras or those who had returned to our stand to play back their footage onto our big screen in order to show all their mates what speeds they had been reaching and how low they were taking those treacherous country road corners!

Without a doubt our highlight of the event so far has been organising for Valentino Rossi’s bike to be set up with one of our VIO POV1.5 Action Cameras! He arrived with a police escort, did one lap around the TT course with our POV1.5 on his bike and was soon after flown back out of the event. Keep an eye out for the footage here and also on ITV. Another highlight was having the Maxxis Babes on our stand showing off the POV1.5 Action Cam.

We couldn’t have hoped for a better time and for more interest in the cameras then we have had, already now when you watch all the riders going around the course we can spot a good number of them sporting a brand new helmet camera! They are all loving it and we are loving the fact that they are loving it!

With a just a few more days remaining of this years TT we are looking forward to kitting out at least a few more riders with Action Cameras and to also enjoying the rest of our time up here on the Isle of Man.

Thanks for all the riders who have made it such a success for us this year, we’ll be seeing you again next time. Remember to keep sending us your footage!

Till then,
Ride hard, ride safe, record it all!

French Grand Prix at Le Mans this weekend!

Action Cameras is really loving the summer now that the motorsports are really kicking off! After having a fantastic time at the Brands Hatch A1GP two weeks ago, we are now off to enjoy the French Grand Prix at Le Mans – just another day at the office :)

For any of our hardcore customers heading over to Le Mans to watch the Grand Prix then be sure to pop down to the Action Cameras stand near the grand stands to say hi, check out the latest gear and take advantage of any show specials that we may be running.

If you’re just watching the races on TV, then we hope that you enjoy!
All the best, The Action Cameras Team

A1GP at Brands Hatch Race Track

What better way to enjoy the bank holiday weekend then by heading down to watch the A1GP racing at Brands Hatch race course!? The ActionCameras team had a brilliant time at the races this past weekend, plus as a bonus, we sold a truck load of action cams at the event. Our new inflatable events tent proved to be a bit more hassle then it’s worth as it collapsed onto us each time we had to top up the generator – at least we could give the customers a real buyer-seller interaction as they helped us hold the tent up during the brief collapsing moments :) Thanks to those of you that willingly offered your help :)

It was not hard to predict that the top sellers at this motorsports event was the the VIO POV1.5M followed closely by the GoPro Motorsport Hero WIDE! Good thing we took loads of stock as they were flying off the shelves (literally some times when the wind picked up!).

The next big motorsports event that we are seriously anticipating is the Isle of Man TT!!! We can’t wait! Action Cameras will to be hiring out all of our cameras at the TT so this gives everyone a chance to play around with the cameras and capture the event to show the rest of the world and to remember the speed (and danger) of racing around the island at exhilarating speeds.

Hope to see you there!

The Action Cameras Team
