O’Neill H Division Campack

The good: The footage quality is great, the remote in the shoulder strap is very user friendly, and the bag is stylish!
The Bad: The microphone is quite susceptible to wind noise (but tucking it inside your jacket minimises this).

The ActionCameras Bottom Line: We think that the bag is good enough on its own to merit the price tag – but here you get a fully integrated helmet camera system too!

O'neill H4 Campack

Anyone who’s seen this O’Neill Campack can’t deny that it is top class, now think about having a helmet camera system built into the bag – now that’s impressive.

Since we’re all about the cameras, let first focus on the integrated camera that comes with the O’Neill Campack; the recording unit had a good size screen that has a great quality built in screen, it’s easy to use and the system is surprisingly intuitive.
The lead from the camera is permanent with strong connectors, half way along the 1.5m lead is the microphone which has foam protection to help prevent wind noise, however we still found it quite sensitive and so it’s a good idea to tuck the mic inside your jacket so that it will still pick up voices and close sounds but your footage won’t be swamped with wind noise.
The camera is better quality then we were expecting with resolution of 720 x 480 (which is near-DVD quality) and it is smaller than most of the bullet cams that we have and the lens is positioned really close to the glass to give a better field of view.

The backpack itself is really great with a padded pocket to protect your recorder, it’s got a strap to hold your snow board, plus there is a remote control in the shoulder strap of the bag so that you can start and stop the recording with ease.

The may seem to be a sigma surrounding this O’Niell CamPack since the one last year did have some technical faults but after thorough testing we can say for sure that we all want one of these for the upcoming ski season…
